Robert, Rene; Nicolas, Jean-louis; Conan, Rony.
For lack of antibiotics, King scallop larviculture faces high mortalities. In the experimental mollusc hatchery of Argenton (Brittany, France), the presence of a vibrio, Vibrio pectinicida, associated with the stocks seems to be responsible for this low survival rate. As prophylactic methods are difficult to implement in the current structures (water sterilization, egg decontamination, isolation of the stocks), the addition of chloramphenicol is the only solution to protect the stocks. However, the use of this antibiotic, considered as dangerous for man, has been prohibited in animal production throughout the whole of Europe since 1994. The action of two other antibiotics, the erythromycine and the oxolinic acid, has been searched for in Pecten maximus...

Contribution à l'étude de la crevette rose Palaemon serratus (Pennant) : Exploitation, Biologie, Elevage, Epidémiologie ArchiMer
Campillo, Albert.
This these is the result of several years of investigations conducted on the common prawn Palaemon serratus in the Roscoff (northern Brittany) and Yeu (bay of Biscay) sectors of the French Atlantic coast. Following a description of the fishery and fishing strategies, it deals with the species biological aspects, focusing on growth, lifespan, sex-ratio and breeding. Hypotheses on the reasons for apparent variations in interannual abundance are drawn up and compared with field observations. The second part is devoted to production experiments in a controlled environment (hatchery), explaining how larvae are obtained and their development and survival with respect to food, density and physical parameters like salinity and temperature. The link between...

His, Edouard.

Galgani, Francois; Benyamin, Y; Vanworhmoudt, A; Cecaldi, J.
Proteolytic enzymes of hepatopancreas of six species of peneids (Penaeus kerathurus, P. japonicus, P. monodon, P. stylirostris, P. merguiensis and P. vannamei ) have been studied. Some of their physiological variations have been characterised. Increase in acclimation temperature of crustaceans enhances increase of specific activities of proteases. Variations of salinity does not modify specific activities, nor quantities of trypsin, nor electrophoretic patterns of these different proteases.
